Note: there's spoilers!

Leon seems to like sleeping a lot.

He says he hates playing baseball and never practised a day in his life, and is more interested in pursuing his dreams of being a musician, which he hopes will make him popular with girls. He later admits he misses playing baseball and intends to return to his old school and rejoin the team.

There's a guitar, amplifier, mic, and possibly other music related items in his room.

He's the first to suggest they look for a way to escape the academy.

He's shocked at Monokuma's rules about killing their peers in order to "graduate."

The first time they divide into groups to explore the building, Leon, Yasuhiro Hagakure, Junko Enoshima and Chihiro Fujisaki go together.

He warns off Hifumi Yamada for being an aggressive pervert about Chihiro Fujisaki (the "eat her?" comments).

Sayaka Maizono intends to kill Leon and frame Naegi for it. Her plan backfires when Leon reacts in self defense and ends up killing her instead. In the manga adaptation Leon and Maizono are shown to be close, and when she locks herself in the shower he tries to calm her down, and her death is accidental. (The scene in question is examined in detail here.)

He can throw 104 mph fastballs, with his preferred position of course being pitcher.

His dialect is Tohoku-ben ("zuuzuu-ben" if you wanna be rude), of which there's about a dozen variations. Considered the hardest dialect even for native Japanese speakers to understand. There's a lot of resources that explain what this entails.

A fan-made timeline that includes a good guess at ages. Going by this, Leon is probably 17.
Everyone’s EXACT ages: During the first game, the DR1 cast believed that they were 15-16 years old (and Hagakure believed he was 20). To be exact, since a high school First Year would have to be born between April 2nd YEAR A and April 1st YEAR B, and one of the requirements to get chosen by Hope’s Peak is that you are already a high school student- (ex. Hinata’s memory of being in a classroom at his old high school after he signs up for hope’s peak, and the SDR2 kids’ original high schools are named in the official art book)- it’s most likely their first day at Hope’s Peak took place a few months (but not many) after April. Making at least some of them 16 by that point.

(Also going by their birthdays, Leon, Naegi, Fukawa and Chihiro were technically born the year after everyone else.)

In reality, of course, they were actually 17-18 (and 22) years old during the course of DR1. Since we’re placing the SDR2 kids as one-two years older, then they were 18-19-20 during DR1.

(Again, by birthdates- Hinata, Nidai and Saionji would have been born the year after the rest of their classmates.)

An interesting character study.

It's a shame he wasn't in the game longer, since I would've liked to find out more about him and see how his characterisation could have developed. Unfortunately not much new content was added in the Dangan Ronpa 1.2 Reload release.

In the end, Leon gives Naegi his underwear for helping him.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Leon calls Naegi his soulmate.

Meaning behind his name:
Leon Kuwata: 桑田 怜恩

If anyone had asked me, on instinct I would have said Leon’s (technically read as “Reon” [Reh-on], as Oren pointed out) name meant “makes terrible life decisions”, but turns out it’s quite the opposite! His family name is written with the kanjis for “mulberry” (桑) and “field” (田 - technically it’s “rice field” but I’ve had some Japanese friends say it was ok to just translate it as field? so idk, I’m trusting them)

Meanwhile, his first name is written with the kanjis for “wise” (怜) and “blessing” or “kindness” (恩) Which gave me the headcanon that Leon gives very good advice sometimes but nobody knows that because no one ever fucking asks him. Because it’s Leon. (I may or may not rant a little during this post, sorry in advance, I have feelings about characters)

They also pointed out how Leon is a pretty blatant reference to Sid Vicious.

On the use of honorifics in Dangan Ronpa 1/zero/2. Leon refers to people by surname only, but might use honorifics for people he feels especially close to.
